I bet not. American presidents don't.

There's a funny scene in the movie The American President where the president wants to arrange to have flowers sent to a lady. We only hear his side of the phone conversation.

He gives his order and where the flowers are to be sent. Then the clerk apparently asks him for his personal information. He gives his name, then:
" . . . I'm the president . . . Of the United States. Hello? Hello?"

There are a lot of things that we do that are so normal that someone as President or Queen has no concept of.

• changing a light bulb
• paying for something
• driving a car
• waiting in line at a restaurant to get a seat
• getting stuck in traffic
• etc.

( I do remember reading a story about the first President Bush. He was asked what he missed most about the President. He said that it was not air force one - anybody rich enough could have a fancy plane. It was not the white house - same reason. He said that the main thing he missed what that he never ever had to wait in traffic! LOL Wherever he went, the road were always cleared for him!!!)

She almost always had a handbag with her.

Why? What was in it, her driver's license and NHS card?

I read once that the Queen doesn't get a driver's license or a passport. I didn't really understand it, but it was something like those things are issued in her name, so she can't give it to herself.

Maybe I'm remembering it wrong. Maybe she's so famous, she doesn't need ID.

In Ron Kessler's book, he tells the story of a president (or VEEP) never carrying any money. Whenever he'd go into a store, he'd hit up the Secret Service guys for some cash to buy something.

He never paid them back.
