(so glad I don't have to worry about this any more)
D4 placed an Amazon order for some kids' books. Amazon said they were delivered to her front porch. When she went to pick up the package, it was gone.
Later that afternoon, she walked out to the garage to take the garbage out, and found the contents of the book in her garbage can. I guess the thief didn't want any kids' books. At least he had the courtesy to dispose of them in her garbage bin.

But, suppose you see see and record the pirate.
Then what? Report to the police? Good luck with followup.
My solution is to have stuff delivered to our condo - we see her several times a week.
