I would have thought that the biggest security concern about Bolton's claims are that, if true, they would indicate that an imbecile is running the country.

The problem with that is that you start off on a false assumption, which causes you to arrive at a conclusion that's 180 out of phase with the truth. Bolton's claims are not true, and Trump is running a country with a lot of embeciles in it.

I didn't start off assuming anything, that's why I wrote 'If true'. Some will say that historically Bolton has been more trustworthy than Trump, some clearly now think otherwise.

"If true" is the current trendy way of injecting bare assed lies into an issue and then claiming innocence when one gets called out for it. You don't get to hide behind an "If true" card with me.

A fellow named Larry Sinclair wrote a book detailing his homosexual encounter with Obama, and how they smoked crack together in the back of a limo while giving each other blow jobs. IF TRUE, a formal investigation into his untimely and suspicious death would be warranted. Several people have come forward over the years stating that Michelle Obama is a man. IF TRUE, that would lend credibility to Sinclair's claim that Obama is a cocksucker.

See how it works? Saying "If true" does not negate the fact that you built a complete narrative and conclusion around a false assumption.

See what happens when false assumptions get stated as fact while hiding behind the "If true" get out of jail card?

Calm down, Larry. I said 'If true' because it's a qualifier. You've come to the immediate and presumably irrevocable conclusion that everything Bolton says is a pack of lies. I genuinely don't know. I'd quite like to see some evidence, one way or the other. And by evidence, I don't mean 'he said, she said'.

              I was only joking

                @Doctor-Phibes Good point.
@Larry I think at some later point, we will have a better idea who is telling more of the truth, but at this time, for you to say that "everything Mr. Bolton says is a lie, and everything President Trump says is the truth" is not correct either. Nobody on this forum board was there and has nor more knowledge than anybody else in this matter.

Personally, I do believe that the majority of things reported in the book are probably based in fact. You can say that I have TDS, but I think that you probably have a bit of it also - Trump Deification Syndrom. LOL

I am joking Larry, and I do respect your opinion and thoughts. Some I agree with, some I dont, but you always make me think!! Thanks!!! 😍

This is like trying to herd cats.....

I never said everything Trump says is true. I said you cannot state that everything Bolton says is true as if it were fact, and then pull a get out of jail card by saying "IF this is true". You're trying to accuse me of the very this g you're doing yourselves.

Let's examine the 10 main points in his book the BBC mentioned

                  1. Trump wanted help from China to win re-election
I spent my entire life as a businessman and a salesman. Trump is a businessman and a salesman. In a negotiation, what Trump is being accused of here is nothing more than a half joking comment made during negotiations that I can see ANY salesman using. Bolton is not a businessman or a salesman. He's being a Karen. He couldn't negotiate for a free stick of chewing gum. If he had any integrity he would have resigned on the spot. But he didn't- he kept on drawing his big government check, enjoying his position of power, and writing down every single insignificant comment Trump made so he could use it later should he find himself out of a job. What absolutely amazes me is that in a room full of adults this needs explaining in the first place. Trump did not seriously ask the Chinese to help him win reelection. That is stupid on it's face. He had his foot on their neck, and you think they didn't play this card against him???? Jesus H. Christ.

                  2. ... and said building internment camps was the 'right thing to do'
You honestly believe that Trump said that and the Chinese didn't use it to their advantage???????

                  BWAHAAAAAHAHAHAAAAA

Screw it. The other 8 things are just as silly, but if you guys can't figure this out on your own I'm not spending an hour trying to explain this to you.

They can be if the lie requires telling classified background the lie is based on.

I guess I'm just amazed at the level of silly it takes for someone to not be able to see through Bolton.

That's not completely out of character for Trump. His response to the Tienanmen square massacre (from a 90's interview):

Trump said he'd been "very unimpressed" with the Soviet Union.

"Their system is a disaster," Trump said. "What you will see there soon is a revolution; the signs are all there with the demonstrations and picketing. Russia is out of control and the leadership knows it. That's my problem with [former Soviet President Mikhail] Gorbachev. Not a firm enough hand."

The future US president was then asked if he meant "firm hand as in China."

"When the students poured into Tiananmen Square, the Chinese government almost blew it. Then they were vicious, they were horrible, but they put it down with strength," Trump replied. "That shows you the power of strength. Our country is right now perceived as weak...as being spit on by the rest of the world."

                          https://www.businessinsider.com/trumpn-tiananmen-square-massacre-china-showed-power-of-strength-2019-6

I'm not saying one proves the other. It's just - he's a fan of putting down dangerous ideas with force.

Yeah, the battle kind of doesn't matter much. Two losers, who cares? It's like being in an arena and watching two 3-legged dogs fighting. You just want them to stop so you can go get a Dixie Cup. Not to mention that most of the crowd appears to have already made their minds up, anyway.

I'm not saying one proves the other. It's just - he's a fan of putting down dangerous ideas with force.

We're torn between the notion that the book is a real and present danger to national security, giving away state secrets, and that it's a pack of lies. I'm not totally convinced that it can be both.

Sure it can. Tell a national secret, and then lie about Trumps response to it.
