Manure is nature's fertilizer. Lots of good things grow here. Today we went to a farm owned by a Chinese couple my wife knows from a Wechat group. They were both engineers in Chicago before purchasing this farm in Brentwood 7 years ago. They're retirees running a you-pick farm which specializes in rare fruit trees. We picked figs, jujubes, and some melons. Fig tree leaves make you itch, pro tip. Figs are delicious though. One of the honeydews was literally bursting with ripe deliciousness. Had that one for lunch. Then the area also has a random extraordinary texas bbq place, which is way better than the ones I tried in Texas a couple months ago. We got some beef ribs.

      All of that looks fantastic.

I must admit, I was a bit disappointed by the Texan steakhouses I went to last spring on a work trip.

      I was only joking

Best Texas bbq I ever had was on 25th st and 6th Avenue in Manhattan. And I was born in Texas.

Best steak I ever ate was in Huntsville AL.

Yeah, but didn't you leave the Lone Star State before you had teeth? 😁

All the stuff above looks good.

LSU developed a fig a few years back and named it LSU Gold. Looks a lot like those that Horace has, except no greenish streaks.

Yes, and up and down, coastal, mountain, and valley, everything is always in season somewhere in the state.
