I looked around the web site trying to find where, when and how do I qualify.
I saw where and when golf is scheduled but it isn't clear if anyone can play or if you have to qualify for the event. I found national standards but no mention of Virginia standards.
In any case 3+ hours each way is kind of a long drive. Lynchburg is nice. They have 2 airports there, one that has some commercial traffic and a very small airport on the side of a hill - Falwell Airport. I have been to both.
The Falwell airport has the steepest runway I have used. You have to land going uphill and takeoff going down. It is so steep that you can't see the runway over the nose of the plane so you just have to hope it is clear.
It is kind of like a ski jump

I found a contact number: 281/220-1999. Contact name is Josh Read.
I also found a PDF of the NSGA 2023 Rule Book: https://nsga.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/2023NSG_Rulebook_07232022.pdf.pdf
On page 23 it gives the Qualifying Rules for golf. In part: "All first place winners or athletes meeting this sportโs [golf, 54-hole scratch] NSGA minimum performance standards in competition at a 2022 NSGA qualifying games will qualify for the 2023 National Senior Games. Qualifiers will be determined by 18-hole (not two rounds of a 9-hole course) gross score played on a course with a minimum par of 70 and a
United States Golf Association (USGA) slope rating between 119 and 126 for men . . .That doc also gives stuff like Entry Regulations and Format. At the bottom of the page it says, "As of 7.23.2022".
So maybe it's too late for you to enter this year, anyway. Next year?
Sorry. Didn't mean to get your hopes up.
