Hey Jolly

Your boy is taking some snaps at center today. He's not going to crack the starting lineup, but should definitely make the 53 due to his versatility.

A lady I used to work with, had three sons that all played center in college. The oldest played with the Bills and I think the Patriots for a few years as a long snapper, but unlike a lot of those guys, he played center in college at LSU. IOW, he had a bit of versatility, rather than being a one-trick pony. Not that he was any big deal, but he hung around long enough to get a bit of pension.
Versatility is a big deal in the NFL. If you can play multiple positions on the line or you can play safety and a bit of corner, maybe help out on special teams, you can have a career. Don't know LeGlue's contract, but even minimum would be more than $800,000 this year, over $900,000 next year, then about $1M in 2024. If he shows a little something, maybe somebody give him a better deal after his rookie contract.
Will Clapp would be a similar guy for the Saints. A center from LSU, he was a 7th rounder, then managed to stick on the practice squad and played in 18 games over four years, starting 7, mostly at guard. The Saints have gotten better on the OL this year, so he was odd man out and signed with the Chargers. I suspect he'll play a similar role. Hopefully, since he's vested in the pension plan, he can hang around a few more years.
The NFL has the worst pension plan of the major professional sports. The player starts to draw his money at 55, and the minimum is $21,000/yr for a guy who only played three years to $105,000 for a guy who played ten or more.
