Never made it to Astoria, but it is somewhere I'd love to visit.

Seaside is a tourist trap, with cheapo t-shirt shops and a mall that's a dump. Cheap motels....Food is bad too.

Cannon Beach - well, of course.

Manzanita is a lot like Cannon Beach but not as "touristy." That' s probably not a good thing, actually, Tourism supports local shops and...

Don't remember Pacific City.

Lincoln City is a dump. We considered staying there, until we realized that, other than the ocean, there's no "there" there.

That's as far south as we went.

I did not know you had gotten that far south. Yeah, Seaside is crap. Don't know about the food, we didn't stay long enough and then ate in Cannon beach at the Wayfarer.

A lot of Rockaway Beach is pretty...

Last time were were there, we thought of staying in Lincoln city. We drove there from Portland, and it was absolutely nothing special (other than the ocean, of course). It's nice views of the ocean, but the town is a typical Oregon coast town - nothing special. It's a lot like Surfside, but not quite as trashy.

I'd never stay anywhere other than Cannon Beach.
