Back in May, our GE Profile range lost its self-cleaning function. It's covered by our Sears home warranty, and the repair only lasted a few hours. Another tech came out, ordered a replacement control board.

Board has been unavailable since then.

Multiple chats with warranty company, each one saying that my case has been "escalated" and "someone will be in touch soon." No joy, no calls, no emails.

Finally left a message on the company that Sears deals with, Cinch.com. Left a firm message as to my unhappiness, and I would like a prompt response. Else, I'm cancelling my service. That was last week. Friday, they responded saying they're in contact with Sears - stand by.

Today, they're offering to replace the range with another GE profile, or pay out about $1300 so I can pick one.

I would like a double oven, and it has to be a free-standing range because there's no backsplash there.

    So, suggestions?

I have found the double oven to be very useful, if for no other reason than the smaller upper oven heats pretty quickly. Do you need electric only, or are you set up for gas as well?

Thanks! We have gas here. Is the lower oven big enough?

Remind me which one you have, please.

I have the Cafe slide in dual fuel. You have to have 220 and gas for that, which I would guess you have. I like it a LOT. Much more powerful than my Frigidaire Professional series.

The lower oven might be tight for a really big turkey, but otherwise it's fine. We really have not used it yet.

Even the slide ins are really free standing anymore. They just have the controls up front rather than in the back.

On the other hand, free replacement with new is a powerful incentive to stay put.

Do not use the self cleaning feature. Nothing kills an oven sooner. Do it by hand. Heck, it’s ultimately cheaper to pay someone to hand clean it than it is to just self clean it…
