"What's the difference between this administration flying migrants to distant states in the middle of the night and bussing them to Washington and New York City?"
KJP: "The difference is that this administration is not using them as political pawns.'
And...she said it with a straight face. Deserves an Oscar.

The Honorable Eric Adams
Mayor, New York City
City HallNew York, New York 10007
The Honorable Muriel Bowser
Mayor, Washington, D.C.
Executive Office of the Mayor John A. Wilson Building
1350 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20004Dear Mayor Adams and Mayor Bowser,
As you know, our nation’s southern border has become both a humanitarian and security crisis. This crisis was created by President Biden and is one that requires immediate and decisive action to be stopped. As Governor of a southern border state, I have watched illegal crossings hit record highs over and over again since President Biden took office. In the absence of federal action, I have deployed unprecedented resources to prevent, deter, and interdict illegal immigration and transnational criminal activity that threatens our citizens. Texas has spent over $3 billion in the past 18 months to curtail the devastation felt by our communities large and small.
In March 2021, I launched Operation Lone Star in partnership with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas National Guard. These state agencies have deployed thousands of troopers and guardsmen to combat the smuggling of people and deadly drugs like fentanyl from Mexico into Texas. The operation utilizes air, ground, and tactical border security assets in an attempt to deny Mexican drug cartels and other criminals the ability to smuggle drugs and people directly into our state. To date, Texas’s multi-agency mission has led to more than 290,000 migrant apprehensions and more than 18,000 criminal arrests, with more than 15,000 felony charges reported.
As law enforcement agents along the Texas-Mexico border respond to thousands of illegal crossings each and every day, putting their lives on the line for Texans and for all Americans, the crisis demands the attention of not only the Biden Administration, which is responsible for securing the border, but of leaders across the country. Unfortunately, President Biden and his “Border Czar” Vice President Harris have refused to see this crisis for themselves—remaining willfully ignorant of the crisis that they have created. In fact, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas recently testified that the border is “safe and secure.” It is neither safe nor secure, as you can both attest to.
Your recent interest in this historic and preventable crisis is a welcome development—especially as the President and his Administration have shown no remorse for their actions nor desire to address the situation themselves. As Governor, I invite you to visit our border region to see firsthand the dire situation that only grows more urgent with each passing day, and to meet with the local officials, who like yourselves, realize this matter deserves immediate federal action. I also ask you to join me in requesting President Biden secure the border and put an end to this disastrous crisis.
President Biden’s reckless open border policies have created a dangerous environment not only for tens of millions of Texans, but for communities all across the nation, including yours. We agree that this crisis demands immediate federal action to prevent the flood of deadly fentanyl, now the leading cause of death for Americans ages 18 to 45, the unimaginable horrors caused by human smuggling and trafficking, the known terrorists from entering our country, and the countless other crimes that have been committed by the hundreds of thousands of “gotaways” that the Biden Administration has let slip through.
I look forward to welcoming you the Texas-Mexico border so that you can see this crisis for yourself. Please contact my office to make travel arrangements for your visits.
Sincerely,
Greg Abbott Governor

Immigration is a topic only one of our parties can speak sanely about.
Nah, the other guys are sane. In a Machiavellian, power-hungry kinda way.

It’s actually reversed. Remember when the Dems fought tooth and nail against any kind of amnesty deal? I do, twice….

G.O.P. Governors Cause Havoc by Busing Migrants to East Coast
"Thousands of migrants have been arriving on buses sent by the governors of Texas and Arizona. Many have ended up in homeless shelters and on the streets."
A political tactic by the governors of Texas and Arizona to offload the problems caused by record levels of migration at the border is beginning to hit home in Washington, as hundreds of undocumented migrants arriving on the governors’ free bus rides each week increasingly tax the capital’s ability to provide emergency food and housing.
With no money and no family to receive them, the migrants are overwhelming immigrant nonprofits and other volunteer groups, with many ending up in homeless shelters or on park benches. Five buses arrived on a recent day, spilling young men and families with nowhere to go into the streets near the Capitol.
Since April, Texas has delivered more than 6,200 migrants to the nation’s capital, with Arizona dispatching an additional 1,000 since May. The influx has prompted Muriel E. Bowser, Washington’s Democratic mayor, to ask the Defense Department to send the National Guard in. The request has infuriated organizations that have been assisting the migrants without any city support.
A vast majority of recent bus riders are Venezuelans fleeing their crisis-ridden country, and many have also been arriving in New York, often via Washington. Eric Adams, mayor of New York City, announced emergency measures on Monday to enable the city to quickly build additional shelter capacity. The mayor, also a Democrat, said the city had received 4,000 asylum seekers since May, fueling a 10 percent growth in the homeless population, with about 100 new arrivals each day.
Venezuelans have been showing up daily at the offices of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York seeking help. “Their primary concern has been a place to stay, food for their children,” said Maryann Tharappel, who directs the organization’s immigrant and refugee services.“The infrastructure in New York is not built for this,” she said. “We are not on the border.”

They think Texas or New Mexico have that kind of infrastructure?

If the illegal immigrants weren't a problem, what the hell difference would it make where they were bussed to? But no let's blame moving them from one state to another after they crossed the border illegally.

Guess who's moving "migrants" to New York City?
The city government of El Paso, Texas, is busing illegal migrants to the Big Apple on the dime of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Deputy City Manager Mario D’Agostino told the DCNF Monday. The federal agency covers the travel costs of illegal migrants through a grant program. (RELATED: DC To Allow Illegal Migrant Students To Enroll In Schools)
“The travel costs for migrants are covered through FEMA’s emergency food and shelter grant. The City/OEM submits for reimbursement on a quarterly basis as the process dictates,” D’Agostino told the DCNF.
“With the goal to provide for the safety of the migrants from the elements and to preserve the community’s transitory hospitality shelter capacities so they may continue to serve our homeless community, OEM [Office of Emergency Management] has sponsored and provided transportation services for migrants out of El Paso, which is reimbursable through FEMA,” he said.
Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams and the White House have both criticized Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for busing illegal migrants to his city and Washington, D.C., with Adams accusing Abbott of using the migrants as “political pawns,” in an Aug. 7 tweet.
Moreover, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre called Abbott’s actions “shameful” in July.
“We believe it’s shameful that some governors are using migrants as a political tool, as a political play, when we should be making sure that we’re doing everything that we can to help folks who are coming into this process in a legal way and making sure that we do this in a safe way and respectful way. And I think it is shameful that that is happening,” Jean-Pierre said at the time.
The Office of Emergency Management has sponsored four charter buses to New York City, according to D’Agostino.

Lori Lightfoot hasn't yet taken the oath to be Chicago's next mayor, but she's already embraced the fact the Windy City is a sanctuary city, and she said Chicago will open its arms to immigrants seeking asylum.
Last week Lightfoot became the first black, female and openly-gay mayor elected for Chicago. The 56-year-old former federal prosecutor said President Donald Trump's threat to flood sanctuary cities with undocumented immigrants was "much ado about nothing," and that Chicago will embrace asylum seekers, much like she said her predecessor, Rahm Emanuel, would do.
"We have people who are routinely coming to this city. We have a whole infrastructure that's built up to make sure that their rights are protected while the city of Chicago has, under the current administration, provided funding for various groups to help support asylum seekers and other people that are going through the immigration court system. I expect it will continue, if not expand upon, those kinds of resources," Lightfoot said during a CNN interview with Anderson Cooper on Friday.
A statement from Abbott's office said that Chicago is being added as a "drop-off location" for future migrant buses in response to "President Biden's open border policies overwhelming border communities in Texas."
A spokesperson from Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot's office said in a statement that Abbott is "without any shame or humanity."
"As a city, we are doing everything we can to ensure these immigrants and their families can receive shelter, food, and most importantly protection. This is not new; Chicago welcome hundreds of migrants every year to our city and provides much-needed assistance," a spokesperson for Lightfoot's office said. "Unfortunately, Texas Governor Greg Abbott is without any shame or humanity. But ever since he put these racist practices of expulsion in place, we have been working with our community partners to ready the city to receive these individuals.
New York City Democrat Mayor Eric Adams, upon meeting the migrants on Aug. 7, said that the actions of Abbott are "horrific."
