Worse Than Trump

I love the fact that I'm not forced to think about the President on a regular basis.
Also, he's a potato.. but, again, I love it.
Enjoy your respite.

Could happen.
I think this time around, I'd just write off the U.S. government as a complete clown show and tune out.

This must be a big deal. I remember Jolly’s threads about how shitty Trump’s approval numbers were and how had he thought that was.
Right?
Right????
Yep. But the problem is most polls over-sample Demonrats. Can you imagine how bad The Resident's numbers actually are, if Demonrats were oversampled?
Bwhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

What parts of this presidency would anybody approve of, if considered in isolation? Other than "he's not Trump", that list looks pretty empty.
“The only President in the last 5 years that didn’t try to end our democracy.”
Not a small thing, if you allow yourself to think about it.

I’ve thought about it and recognize the rhetorical value of histrionic framings.

It's a mess, God knows, but it has always been a mess. I wonder if the clown show is how the cartoon media portray it rather than the institution itself.
Not that it makes that much of a difference. Our knowledge is as good as the quality of what we're told.
EDIT: I suspect that the further down in the echelon (and the less interest from the media), the better things work. Probably the real work of government gets done there, down in the basement where nobody goes, and the real clown show is up where elections and shit happen.
When a Congressman gets a question from a constituent, what is the first thing he does? Right, he calls Mr. Bureaucrat for the answer -- some subterranean wage slave nobody heard of, and the Congressman gets the compliments.

The confirmation bias of that framing for someone who had TDS to begin with, must be profoundly cathartic. The jons of the world aren’t going to stop thinking that way any time soon.

But think of how much fun they can have if he's elected again.
Gives new meaning to many people's lives.

I’ve thought about it and recognize the rhetorical value of framings from non-cult members.
Fixed

Yes you have successfully established your unassailable pretension to an ability to conceive of politics and culture matters free from your own bias. Your ability to demonstrate that ability in specific discussions is lacking, but that’s where a lack of self awareness comes in handy.
-
@jon-nyc said in Worse Than Trump:
@Horace You and only you have credited me with that.
Can a man be in two cults at the same time?
One wonders.
Pretty sure it would be a common observation here that you consider others tribal and yourself clear headed and objective.

I am one of several here who recognize Trumpism (magatry) and wokeness are cancers on the body politic. One of several. Among that select group are those who traditionally voted Republican and those who traditionally voted Democratic, and some that aren’t US citizens so haven’t voted here.

I would probably agree with you mostly if you took the time to think through exactly what beliefs define “Trumpism”. But in the past, you have hand waved the definition and refused to make clear exactly what it means. And I have asked. I’d like you to have the opportunity to walk your walk of intellectual clarity.
