I did the tour in late 2016. It mentioned Hemmings and the slaves and all that, and slave quarters were part of the tour. But it was still respectful to TJ and not over the top at all.

I wonder if it has changed in 5.5 years or if this guy has different standards of what’s reasonable than I do.

Knowing the stuff going on for the last two or three years, I'm guessing it's lurched Leftwards.

Bro, update your stereotypes. Che was big for liberals like 50 years ago and had a bit of a resurgence in the early 2000s as a kind of pop art thing.

The intern who wrote that has either a BLM t-shirt (fist or letters) or one of Ibram X. Kendi.

I went about 10 years ago, and had the same experience.

At Mt. Vernon, how they do it is each section has a different guide. Completely runs the gamut between "fuck this guy" to "greatest leader in history."

I was there in late 2015. I don't remember that take, but that's not to say that it wasn't the case.

I was just in awe of the place.

We went a few times just this year, so, 7 year difference.

Funny thing: We tried to eat at the restaurant there, which has an entrance in the gift shop. The hostess informed us that although there were tables available—off-peak time and part of the season—only those with a reservation could use that entrance. We'd have to walk all the way around to the side entrance instead.

I said, "so you're telling me there's a separate but equal entrance at the restaurant at Mt. Vernon? I'm pretty sure I just went on a tour telling me that kind of thing was no longer okay."

                    I could've pushed it farther I guess but didn't.

                    Please love yourself.

Wow. What the actual fuck? When I was there we just walked in and got a table. It was late morning of the day that I met you guys in Virginia.

                      could use that entrance

There's at least one snarky comment I could make about that kind of shit, but I won't, because I'm on my 2nd (cheap and large) Scotch of the night, and I don't want to cast aspersions on the Nobel Prize winner...
