A painful need for better ladders
-
I have been tempted a few times to buy one of those fancy four-part ladders, but never enough to actually pull the trigger. It’s just very heavy (on top of also being very expensive). I don’t have enough “projects” to justify it. With two separate aluminum ladders that I already have, I figure I can just straddle a plank across the two ladders to get a usable elevated horizontal surface should I ever need one. :man-shrugging:
I already have three ladders in my house, together they cover just about every use case that can be covered by that one fancy four-part ladder. If I were starting from scratch with zero ladder already in my possession, I may feel differently about getting that one four-part ladder.

I had a 20 ft extension for many years, plus a 6' and an 8' stepladder. Sold the 20' one a couple weeks ago as I wasn't using it anymore.
I'm with Ax on the 4 part ladders. They are VERY heavy and awkward to move around. You are also counting on the safety of the movable joints.

I have one of those "Little Giants" which is extendable to 26 feet. The thing is heavy, but I'm a guy and can move it around easily enough thanks to being a dude and not needing pedicures...
It's quite useful. I wish it were 4 feet longer, but that would be impractical for my storage ability.
