That makes sense. The appreciation of the average person for conservative politics is obvious. The only reason they talk like they hate the GOP is because those noises are socially and professionally advantageous. “I may be wrong, but at least my heart is in the right place” is a huge lie any mainstream leftist tells themself. It would be more accurate to say “I may be wrong, but at least I’m a principle-free opportunist”.
