"People say all the time, 'Oh, we got to get the vice president out of the basement,'" McAuliffe told the "monthly breakfast" of the Norfolk City Democratic Committee. "He's fine in the basement. Two people see him a day: his two body people. That's it. Let Trump keep doing what Trump's doing."

Basement boy vs bunker boy.
No one knows who the winner will be, but the loser will definitely be America.
Basement boy is there because he doesn't want to get a virus.
Bunker boy is there because the Secret Service said, "Get downstairs."
@Larry , he did go to the bunker:
-
@Mik During the protests outside the White House, President Trump was either taken to the bunker as a precaution, or as he says, he went down to the bunker to inspect it.
Regardless, the whole thing is a bit stupid, I agree. LOL

I am not buying that the other dudes never visited the bunker, at least for curiosity's sake.
Bush would have gone in, but Cheney had already locked the door from the inside.
-
Yeah, Mik, that would be the normal view.
I think if Trump hadn’t responded to the story with ‘no no no I was just inspecting it’ there would have been no comment.
It’s Trump’s blaring insecurities that are being mocked, not the fact that he was in the bunker.
-
If Trump said "I was just inspecting it", then
- He was taken to the bunker.
- That decision is made by SS, not by the president, and it's the one area where a president cannot debate the issue. If the SS tells him he's going to the bunker, then he's going to the bunker.
- Obviously "I was just inspecting it" was meant to make a joke about it.
- Taking the joke seriously - even making this an issue at all, is proof the Left has no sense of humor, and there are no depths too low that they won't stoop to to toss rocks at Trump.

Excerpted from Quora:
"Yes, POTUS can absolutely supersede the authority of the U.S. Secret Service... and No, POTUS can absolutely not supersede the authority of the U.S. Secret Service.
Now, POTUS also appoints the Director of the United States Secret Service, as well as the Director's boss, the Secretary of Homeland Security. So, yes; Agent Average Joe could technically say to the most powerful political figure in the world, "Sorry Sir, it's too dangerous, you're not going in there...." but if POTUS decides that he'll be fine, then it is expected that the U.S. Secret Service quickly develop an alternate plan to keep him safe.... and they do....
There have been many, many times where there has been this kind of conflict, particularly between the security (USSS) and the public relations (White House Staff). If agents had their way, they would keep the guy in an impregnable fortress for the duration of his term. On the flip side, staffers only want their guy out meeting every voter, kissing every baby, shaking every hand. Ultimately, a happy medium is usually reached. Sometimes security wins, sometimes publicity wins, and sometimes it needs a tiebreaker in an argument."

Can you honestly blame the man with the treatment he has received?
-
Yes I can. His nearly comic levels of insecurity predate any bad press he ever had.
-
Yeah think back to the first display of this as President - the reaction to the inaugural crowds.
Even many supporters were embarrassed by his behavior, hoping that once elected he would act, if not presidential, at least like an adult. Little did they know.

Ok. Let's just say that's the case. He still has more accomplishments under his belt than any president in history, and at the moment seems to be the only thing standing between the people and an out of control Left. If Obama had been this successful you'd be bouncing off the rafters wanting to declare him god.
