It's absolutely a problem. I've worked with and for a lot of media folks in NYC. Not everyone follows this stereotype, so this is very loose, but generally:
- a lot of them have absolutely no idea how the world works outside of their own bubble
- they don't know the depth of that, but they do sense a disparity, feel kinda bad about it in a judgey sort of way, and so therefore have white guilt. From there's it's off to the woke races.

It's absolutely a problem. I've worked with and for a lot of media folks in NYC. Not everyone follows this stereotype, so this is very loose, but generally:
- a lot of them have absolutely no idea how the world works outside of their own bubble

A little while back, I was listening to a panel discussion at Aperture (based in New York) on Robert Frank. They were commenting on his use of the American flag in his series, "The Americans." They were talking about it from the standpoint of his choice, like it was a creative decision. "All through the work you find flag stuff."
- He incorporated the flag into his work because he traveled through the south and the midwest, and in those areas the flag is every-damn-where. It wasn't a creative decision, he was accurately documenting what Not-New-York looks like.
- Flag stuff. That's why the rest of the country hates you and claims you're out of touch. Because you say things like "flag stuff."

Even more head-scratching for them is when they drive by a house that has the American flag and the Confederate flag flying.

My dad made this same point, without irony, in 1996 when Clinton beat Dole. He was shocked, since everyone he knew (all white, mostly male senior citizens in Ft Wayne IN) had voted for Dole.

Just reinforces why I like this forum board. People from all sides offering their thoughts and opinions.
