        Would that copper plate not be toxic to the body? I am thinking of how hammering piece of copper pipe into a tree stump will kill off the root system and initiate rot.

          Not to mention the vast agony of getting a fracture hammered on.

          Also, wouldn't the plate be fitted more loosely around the bone after the flesh decomposed?

          I smell a RAT, which stands for rubbishy archeological tampering.

          AFTERTHOUGHT: Maybe the bone had been used as a weapon and its owner broke it on some guy's head, and this was his repair job.
