Ayup, I was about to post the same comment. Love a good scone, as does hubby. He sometimes reminds me that the scone pan is clean and ready.

I don't make fussy fancy cookies. Mine are the cookie jar variety made as big batches in the Hobart. Now that there's just the two of us, I don't make them as often. It's probably time for another batch of some.

Probably in the neighborhood, but not quite.

Well, substitute some mayhaw (the king of jellies) for the grape and I'd agree with you.

Although fresh strawberry jam or wild muscadine jelly is awful good, too.😋 😋

Not a biscuit fan? A good biscuit is one of life's little pleasures. Making biscuits is just everyday cooking.

Now, cookies are different. I recognize three different kinds of cookies:

            1. Tea cakes. Southern cookie, usually very simple, and goes great with a cup of coffee. My grandmother's were the best anybody ever had, being almost the size of a small biscuit, but with a texture somewhere between a biscuit and a cookie. Made with whatever she had, I've ate them when they had hickory nuts in them, maybe fresh coconut, pecans or most any combination. I have her hand-written recipe. I cannot duplicate them.

            2. Cookie jar cookies. The kind of cookie that's an everyday staple in a family's cookie jar. Chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, snickerdoodles, etc. I can make a pretty decent cookie, usually peanut butter or cracked molasses.

            3. Fancy cookies. Decorated christmas cookies or cookies that take a lot of ingredients and/or are harder to make. Way out of my league, it's the kind of cookie Brenda would serve to her guests, to show off her baking skills and give them a taste treat.

Love 'em; can't cook 'em! I've never baked a successful biscuit in my life. Tried many times. Redd all about not overhandling the dough, etc, the whole nine yards. Nothing works. Hockey pucks.

Of course. Mayhaw is the best jelly. It's a bit like plum, but has more snap.

We have six big jars of homemade jam from fruits we picked ourselves. Peach, blueberry, and mango. We didn't pick the mangos ourselves come to think of it. Our favorite is the peach. Jam on toasted croissants is wonderful.

I'm going to bake at least four dozen biscuits in the morning and bring them to a breakfast at church. They'll go into a warmer until we eat.

I'll be using disposable aluminum pans to carry them in, probably the half-size ones.

Anything special I need to do?

You might want to change the thread title such that nonbinary folks don't feel left out.

Yes! That's a good breakfast or snack. Cookies are in a completely different category, IMHO.
