            I use this, and also have a bag of peeled garlic cloves in the freezer.
            Also have two presses, one that crushes and one that slices.

                I just "slap" the clove(s) of garlic, usually on a sturdy cutting board, with the broad surface of a cleaver type knife and that will crush the garlic and make it very easy to pick out the skin later.

                    You should try the plate - it's great. You wet the garlic a touch, then rub it on the plate, and voila! Minced.
