For lunch today...

We stumbled on a family owned BBQ place today, after picking blueberries. Best bbq I've ever had. We got brisket, a beef rib, and pork ribs. Each was spiced differently. The brisket and the beef rib had a magnificent bark. Wish I'd gotten a picture of the beef rib while it was on the bone. I think the proprietor isn't big on BBQ sauce on the side, maybe a purist in that regard. I would agree that sauce should be considered carefully with this meat, as wonderful and moist as it was without it. It doesn't look like much in this pic, but I thought I'd share anyway.

I had almost the same thing for supper. Mine was also beef. It came in a tubular shape from a package that had the words "bun sized" on the front.
Other than that, I'd say the two were identical.

They did have homemade sausage on the menu, but they had none today. I assume it would have been the same thing.

Making barbecue racist
... Was the family black?
For whatever reason, down here the absolute best barbecue masters are usually black and usually men.

Nope. This was a white guy, with a Latino wife and daughter working with him. Or so I assume. I am going to get some history next time I go. Heβs the gregarious sort who seems to like talking.
