Well, then. Happy anniversary to all you lovebirds!

'Twas a good day! I made an old fashion Dutch Baby for breakfast, with fresh berries and syrup for toppings. Hubby grilled steaks for dinner, served with fresh Minnesoooooota asparagus and hot garlic bread. A nice Sonoma red went down smoothly with that meal as we dined al fresco on our front porch.

                                We've given up...Anniversaries, birthdays, holidays?

Just another day ending in "Y" for us.

We remember, but we really don't exchange gifts or celebrate, usually.

                                  Yes, that's us, too.

This year, we combined Mother's Day, anniversary, my birthday, and Father's Day. For all those combined, we justified building a new bubbler fountain for the flower bed by the front porch. It's a significant project involving a water reservoir filled with a truckload of rocks, a recirculating pump and collection basin, a plumbed watering system, cut blue stone for the base layer, a cast stone primary pedestal, a second cut blue stone level, and middle pedestal of cast stone, a third cut blue stone, and a vintage cast stone topper with a small basin and four lions heads with open mouths as drippers.

The project is not huge, but is a challenge with all the heavy elements. We have the waterworks installed, and most of the rock, which goes over a pond liner in the ground with granite pavers lining the rim. Next comes the layers of cut blue stone, more granite pavers for the rim, and the various layers of the fountain itself. It's a trickler or bubbler fountain, not a spray fountain. It should appeal to the hummingbirds and other little critters, and it is just outside the porch by my chair. I will get to enjoy it pretty much every day of spring, summer, and fall.

                                    Congratulations Brenda!

And once again anniversary season is open at TNCR.

The 40th anniversary is in 4 days.

That's a big one, Copper!!! What special plans can you tell us about it?

Our anniversary habit is to buy something for the house, a tree or a TV or furniture or landscaping. Maybe a tree this year.
And dinner out and flowers and candy.

The project is not huge, but it's a challenge with all the heavy elements.

EDIT: I will add that this is such a heavy project. The rock for the reservoir filled most of the 8' bed of my truck. The granite pavers are about 30 pounds each, and there are many for this little project. The pedestal base is 500 pounds. The cut blue stone is also very heavy, and there are three layers of it, the bottom one being 4' by 4'. The total weight of this project is best measured in tons and hernias. LOLOL

How many women do you know that could say this?

I know one. And she doesn't live in my house.

And mine is a real truck, not a 4-door wannabe truck-like, but more car-like, thing with a teeny tiny bed that only gets used for groceries.
