If the details as reported are accurate, this is absolutely shameful. Those cops need to be released from duty permanently.

Imagine opening fire on a suspected carjacker. Jeebus, let them run away, for god's sake. Do detective work later and track them down, if you can. If you can't, well, you lose some some of the time.

Poor woman. A very bad situation all around. Will it be a homicide case if the woman loses her fetus as a result of this incident? Has it even been confirmed that the car was indeed “stolen”?

It would seem that pursuing a pregnant woman would be within the physical capabilities of most any LEO. But as in the article, a handgun was found at the scene. We shall see.

@Mik Ach, right, I forgot about the handgun "found at the scene".

BTW, has anyone seen any more on the story of the bus full of college athletes that was stopped in Georgia?

Patrol spokesperson Sgt. Andy Bell told The Kansas City Star it was unclear whether the woman had a firearm but a handgun was found in the area where she was shot.

The way it’s phrased, it just does not elicit confidence; it sounds more like an attempt to confuse. Hopefully there will be follow up reporting of “the rest of the story.”

They also don’t actually address whether the car was or wasn’t the one that was stolen.
