Hospitalized with pneumonia

One thing I learned from a nearly two-week course of IV antibiotics is they are pumping you full of fluids too. It brought my SpO2 down. You might watch for that if SpO2 drops. With pneumonia they might be giving you a diuretic as well to prevent fluid building up in the lungs.

Fever gone. BP normal. I’d be home but for the fact that I need to finish a course of IV antibiotics.
Ok, glad to hear you're feeling better! So keep your hands off of the nurse's butts.
Especially Fred's.

No I'm here still and will remain so until tomorrow morning.
Had a CT yesterday which showed lower left lobe pneumonia, which just confirmed what they got from the X-ray Monday.
Vitals are all normal.
I feel fine but they want to do a broncoscopy and see what they can grow. But barring some unforeseen event I'll leave in the morning.

They found the likely source of my issues from a sputum culture. They think it started with a parainfluenza virus (which Dr. Google tells me is not flu) with the bacterial pneumonia as a later add-on.
Because of that they are canceling the bronc. I'll probably go home today with a prednisone taper and a script for ribavirin.

Must be counting the minutes…

I'm already on a daily prednisone dose of 5mg, so that will change for a while.
OIC. Knowing nothing about pharmacy, I thought maybe part of your regimen was to protect against precisely the kind of invasion that put you in the hospital this time.

Ok, I was overconfident. They want to check me tonight to make sure the anti-viral doesn't do bad things. Almost certainly I'll leave in the am.
