Fiddler “Woody Paul” Chrisman has a PHD in Plasma Physics from MIT where he wrote his thesis, "Inertial, Viscous, and Finite-Beta Effects in a Resistive, Time Dependent Tokamak Discharge".

I've liked them since the old days and saw them once on the Opry Stage.
Marty Robbins also did a lot of western stuff. And the Sons of the Pioneers are still active.
