Defund the Police

I'm waiting for our leftward voices here to let us know whether the defunding of police should be a "legitimate concern", for those who would consider a defunded police force to be concerning. Just curious how we should calibrate our thresholds for legitimacy of concern.

Yes its a legitimate concern! I mean, no one's going to zero them out (I don't mean no activists want to, I mean no city council and mayor will do so). But we've already seen city councils vote to reduce police funding in the last few days, at least I think I read that some where.

Funny thing is small majorities of blacks say their communities are under-policed.

As far as I'm concerned, back up and let the people do their own policing.

While they're at it, let them have the prisons, too.

Since all police are bastards it would be more of an illegitimate concern.

Sort of. The problem in PDX is that as hard as the city tries, they cannot recruit sufficient numbers of new candidates.
It wouldn't be such a bad job, actually. City council hates you, most progressives hate you, street people hate you, your dog will hate you, wife runs away. But other than that. . . nice uniform, in a ninny sort of way.
