Try substituting X=divorce or X=“artificial contraception” or X=abortion or X=“same-sex intercourse” and see if you can even get pass the second line.

It’s not just the Catholic Church, many denominations and many religions have absolute “thou shalt nots.” Whoever made that little graphic is either ignorant or deliberately chose to ignore basic facts about the Catholic Church.

Right over your utter lack of understanding head.

Maybe true in some parishes but others don’t just say “you’re free to do that go ahead”, they exclude them from some of the benefits and/or ceremonial aspects of membership in the church.

My mom would get hand-written notes under her wiper that said "You can't be Catholic and vote for Barack Obama you should be ashamed of yourself" and similar. (She had an Obama bumper sticker. Curiously, my mom, while atheist, would go to my uncle's masses every time she was in town.)

            Please love yourself.

I don't think the church was behind that.

No, but when parishoners treat others that way, that's precisely how you get the mentality of the "person" in the above joke.

At the very least “You’re completely free to do that but you will burn in hell for eternity” is a little passive-aggressive.

                  I was only joking
