Remember when everyone thought Japan was going to be the inevitable hegemon in the world? (I don't)
Limits to China's growth will seem obvious in retrospect (demographics, middle income trap, regulatory uncertainty - and outright theft, ineffective capital allocation, etc.)
Not saying China won't be a huge player on the world stage going forward - but it's subject to the laws of gravity just like everyone else.
To your point, Jolly - India is their own worst enemy, but they'll get out of their own way some day.

Food imported from India? Sure, quite commonplace here.
Services exported to India? Yeap, many businesses do that.
Bookkeeping/accounting, software development, website design/coding, radiological chart readings, call center services … lots of these got exported to India.Hardware imported from India? These are rare. I used to be able to find garments made in India in American clothing stores, but that hasn’t happen for probably two decades by now. Kind of rare to see “Made in India” stamped on any hardware in the USA.

@Axtremus Yeah, India is plagued by intense regulation, corruption and a weak legal system - making the "cost of business" very high. Then you add on top of that a lack of infrastructure (inputs, ports, shipping, etc.).
The meta effect is that people think it's impossible, and smart money doesn't try.
You get some really huge vertically integrated conglomerates that get around these coordination problems by dealing only with themselves (e.g., Reliance) - but that doesn't scale to fostering a global manufacturing base.
Tough nut to crack.
