Strachan also pointed to a Washington Supreme Court decision that decriminalized the possession of small amounts of drugs, and law enforcement reform laws that forbid police from pursuing someone in a stolen car unless that person is drunk or otherwise dangerous. Strachan said the numbers started jumping right after that law was passed.
"I've never seen such brazen contempt for law enforcement," said Strachan. "I think it's some of the best evidence I've seen that the change in the law has directly affected numbers of auto thefts."

The anti-law-enforcement bias of progressives is maybe their dumbest idea. And that is saying a heck of a lot.

In 1968, there were four villages in South Vietnam, where choppers were routinely subjected to ground fire, sometimes nuisance level, sometimes more. You may have heard of one of the small villages...My Lai.

After Lt. Calley led Charlie Company through the village and killed durn near everything in sight, no choppers were subjected to ground fire from the four villages for the rest of 1968.

Any fire.

That's an outrageous example, but it explains how force can shape behavior.
