INteresting articles, but from (the little) I know about it, nothing really surprises. I am sure that the US (and other big powers) has many times supplied weapons, training, etc. to rebels in many countries "under the table" and if the operation became public, then denied knowledge.

If Kennedy would have given the insurgents even a bit of what the CIA promised, the Cuban Missile Crisis would not have happened.

There was talk of some pretty nasty stuff, possibly exceeding the January 6th protests.. Nixon decided not to do so for the good of the country.
