Meanwhile, at church...
-
Was at cowboy church last Monday night and one of the fellas was showing off his work...He'd made a knife from a John Deere tie-rod. Looked like stainless, but I don't think it was. Blade was about seven inches long, with semi-circular notches on the top. I asked him what the notches were for, and he said "Nothing, they were on the tie-rod and I just thought the look was unusual".
The handle was also unusual. It was made of laminated wood, but the tang was not in the same plane as the knife. It was horizontal instead of the usual vertical and aligned with the blade. He said he just wanted to do something a little different. I don't know how well that would hold, myself.
Knife blade was shaped like a general use hunting blade and was hollow-ground. The man said he had about twenty-five hours in the knife and the simple leather sheath.
Nothing like living on the rural route...Go to church and ooh and ah over deadly weapons.
