The Woke Algorithm
-
Working from home insulates one from the need to address, care in any way, about wokeness in the workplace. That matters, because break room conversations can sometimes be opportunities for the woke to sniff out Others or to confirm their speculation about potential Others. Ever been asked to emote on the spot about how disgusted you are about some right wing political thing? I have. But not anymore.

What's wrong with the bluntly indifferent response? "I don't care about any of that stuff. I need you to help me with XYZ project." You do that often enough and they'll dismiss you as a potential Other and stop asking.
No?

No. Not if you're a white guy.

Sometimes our Vice Presidents who give quarterly results presentations to the company are called upon to publicly address diversity and inclusion topics. They even have to answer unscripted questions about it. Good luck having ambition to rise up the corporate ranks if you can’t at least pretend convincingly that you’re on board with all things woke.

Yes, a quote from Lennon is absolutely in order at this point.

My biggest concern is the dismantling of equality for equity… That scares the ever loving crap out of me.

I'm telling ya, we need a really good Depression.
Can't make steel without fire. This current batch of idiots is no better than monkey metal.

DEI Statements are becoming de rigueur for company websites. I honestly don’t believe that 70% of the people out there understand that there is a difference between equality and equity and what that difference truly means.

I just want to know why companies have decided to jump off the Woke Cliff en masse...

I believe it’s as simple as fear of economic cancelation.

Are there really enough woke customers to make a significant, long lasting effect on the bottom line?

Yes. People are idiots.

A mediocre piece of pop cultural rabble never has as much power as they do when they, as an employee of a large company, email HR or management and inquire why the owner and presidents of the company haven’t made a public statement of solidarity after the George Floyd incident. That was the context in which the owner of the company I work for was coerced into a public display of wokedom. A Vice President of Inclusion and Diversity position soon followed. It became, to hear our owner speak of it, one of the highest company priorities going forward. So the black folk raised in decent neighborhoods by decent parents will get their upper middle class jobs handed to them, while low status blacks raised in broken cultures will continue to lead mattering-challenged lives as cannon fodder in the leftist culture wars.

I cleaned out my 'cache & cookies' last night and as usual met with a raft of snarls this morning, so I've had a very bad day so far. That may account for my response, here.
I wonder what would happen if a wokester wrote to HR about George Floyd and got back this answer: "We won't be issuing a statement of solidarity around George Floyd because we don't care about George Floyd. That is not why we're here. If you don't like it, leave."

Yes. They believe equity equals equality and if the results aren’t equitable, then the only explanation has to be systemic racism/trans-homophobia. After you accept that as a given, then the data can be manipulated however necessary to support this conclusion.

Allow me, then, one such quote appropriate for this thread:
“ It is, of course, much easier to shout, abuse, and howl than to attempt to relate, to explain.”
From the April Theses, 1917
Oh wait….never mind.

The fool on the hill also works, but might be pushing the Liverpudlian influence on Washington a bit.
