    @jon-nyc 's comment about the Gershwin piano concerto got me to thinking.

    A few years ago, at the Chicago Symphony, I heard the Ravel piano concerto for the left hand. Being the Neanderthal I am, I'd never heard it before.

    I was flabbergasted.

    What a masterpiece.

    Is there any "classical" piece that you know is in "the repertoire," but have never heard before and loved?

    The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

      Not sure if I understand, are you looking for:

      1. Classical pieces we know exist in the repertoire …
      2. But have never heard until well into our adulthood …
      3. And loved them after we have heard them?

        @Axtremus exactly.

        The Ravel piano concerto (left hand) just blew me away when I heard it for the first time. It was live.
