Because it was a straight recitation of the virtue narrative, at least up to the last part about 1000 kindergarten teachers? Yes, that is genius. When reality is the joke and you can just report it.
Reminds me of Norm MacDonald's idea of the perfect joke, where the setup was the punchline, but the punchline still needs to be said, to remind the audience that reality is the joke. His favorite attempt at this was his joke about Julia Roberts divorcing Lyle Lovett. ‘Lyle Lovett and Julia Roberts are getting a divorce and people close to the couple say the reason is because he’s Lyle Lovett and she’s Julia Roberts.’
My least favorite attempt at this was Bo Burnham commenting on why he was opposed to Donald Trump. 'Because he's Donald Trump. Because he's Donald Fucking Trump.' I think he repeated it like 10 times to increasing thunderous
clapterapplause.
