The invasion will go down in history as a colossal blunder.

Sooner or later China will call its mortgage. May not be in Putin’s time, but China will someday come knocking. The Kremlin, or whatever new age Fascist state is left if of it in the wake of the current criminal regime, will run to the West for assistance.

We should think twice about assisting.

The enemy of my enemy may not be my friend, but they may prove useful. Assuming that Russia still has any nukes that are reliable - an uncertain thing given recent kleptocracy in the armed forces, they could still inflict some damage on China. And if it’s within a decade of this misadventure it will be all they have left.

Why? I understand that a weak Russia is probably in our nations' best interests.

However, if that weakness comes at the cost of a strong China, is that a good thing?

China will, for the foreseeable future, strengthen regardless of what happens inside Russia.

Although I am loathe to sound like a bean counting technocrat, after the trillion plus dollars, GBP and Euros in investment, technical assistance and humanitarian aid that the West has pumped into the USSR and The Russian Federation, why would the West want not wash its hands of the place?

                  A. Could be propaganda.
                  B. Could be Russian drones.

That's a lot of the problem. I see things all day long from Ukrainya Pravda. I don't believe they are any more reliable than RT. I'm not sure I believe most of what I read from US sources.

You'd think they could have used some name other than Pravda. It comes with a lot of baggage.

My understanding is the UP despite its name is fairly reliable with a moderate centre left bias in its editorials. Unlike RT which is wholly Kremlin owned and controlled, UP’s ownership appears to be held by private interests.

I certainly do not rely on North American MSM for news on that part of the world. American think tanks and universities on the other hand, produce a lot of first rate information on the war much of which is posted to YouTube or their individual websites. Likewise Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe offers good reporting and if nothing else provides good starting points for more in depth searching of specific items.
