    6 days worth of losses:

      Change in tactics.

      Look at Russian helicopter losses.

Interesting thread on RU army recruiting and ethnic makeup, with all the usual caveats.

Saw on the news last night that the Ukranians are engaged in a few small offensive operations. And winning.

I have been wondering if Ukraine would dare launch an assault into Russian territory and if so what that looks like? An assault on the disputed Donbas region? An assault on non-disputed Russian land?

Yup. Supposedly they've pushed the Russians out of a suburb of Kiev.

Not likely. As it is their plate is full defending their own territory.

There would be no strategic advantage in taking Russian territory. I could see incursions to take out specific near-border military targets, but that is probably not achievable.

                      @Mik

Indeed, it would be used by the Kremlin as a cause to escalate. Not that Kremlin feels it needs an excuse.

This sounds like it might be a big-ish deal:

curious 'container' that Ukrainian troops captured today looks to actually represent a significant Russian loss and a potential intelligence goldmine. What Ukraine's forces found looks to be a containerized command post that is part of the Krasukha-4 mobile electronic warfare system. The Krasukha-4 is primarily designed to detect and jam large radars, such as those on airborne early warning and control aircraft, such as the U.S. Air Force's E-3 Sentry, and spy satellites.

Ukrainian forces reportedly found this command post container outside of the capital Kyiv. Twitter user @UAWeapons was among the first to identify it as most likely being a component of the Krasukha-4 system, which is also known by nomenclature 1RL257, based on a picture that had emerged online. A complete Krasukha-4 consists of two vehicles, both based on the 8x8 KAMAZ-6350 truck, one with the electronic warfare (EW) system and the other carrying the command post module.

The sinking of this ship is a HUGE deal.

                                          1. It's a supply ship and was docked at the port of one of the first cities to fall in the early days of the war.
                                          2. Secondary explosions destroyed a fuel dump and munitions dump.
                                          3. Getting that boat out of the way for another supply ship will be a major undertaking.
                                          4. Other ships that were damaged will need extensive repairs.
                                          5. The Ukrainians are silent on how they did it. Speculation runs from ballistic missile attach, to a commando raid. Keep the Russians guessing is the strategy.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.
