Funny how you can work with folks for awhile and not know some interesting things about them...I've worked with Burt for four or five years, He's the head housekeeper on weekends, at the little rural hospital where I occasionally show up and piddle a bit.

Anyway, the gal I was working with today, asked Burt how his latest job was coming. He took out his cellphone and showed us pictures of eight antique ladderback chairs he had refinished. About half had cane bottoms already done and you could tell they were hand-woven. I asked him if had done the caning and he said he did quite a bit of that kind of work on the side, more than the refinish work. His grandfather was a caner and taught him how to do the craft, when he was just a lad.

Things you don't know about the people you work with...

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

One of the plastic surgeons I worked with would perform rap music in a nightclub.

One of our nurses was dating a gas passer who does stand-up in comedy clubs in the Chicago area.

"Now look here, you Baltic gas passer... " - Mik, 6/14/08

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

I'm usually the one providing those stories for others. 😞

        Please love yourself.
