US President Nixon visits China for the fist time.
Link to videoI have seen pictures of one of the visits that President Nixon did to China and it was during winter, and all the major streets were being cleared of snow by hand. Thousands and thousands of people with snow shovels were used to clear the streets in preparation for the visit.
Up until the late 1980's, there were representatives who were in the Taiwan parliment who were elected in mainland China and then their seats were frozen. They still represented those districts in Mainland China, but obviously there was not much work that they could do.
