There's more truth in that than you think.
There's no such thing as an "hour long case." Even if the patient is in the OR for 20 minutes, you're tied up for at least two hours.

I ain’t responsible for all the peripheral nonsense. I know how long I need to work. If the patient isn’t breathing while I’m closing and I have to sit and wait a half hour for anesthesia to remove the tube, it is not my fault.
