@Horace, update?
Still have significant pain when the pills wear off. Taking ibuprofen and norco as you suggested. Keeping the leg elevated is important, but I need help with that because even with the support of my good leg, I can't help but flex the quad a little. I need someone to lift the leg whenever I get into or out of bed, or whenever I rest the calf on the piano bench when I sit at my computer. I am being very careful.

Are you supplementing with more acetaminophen?
No, I don't have any of that. Just ibuprofen.

How are things today?
Doing well, thanks George. Taking the acetaminophin as you described. Also realized I can lift my leg by wrapping my hoodie under the calf and pulling with my arms, so I'm a little more independent. Won't have to wake up my wife several times a night to use the bathroom. Eventually I'll be able to use my good leg to support it but the pain does not allow for that currently. I can't help but activate the bad quad when I try to do that. Anyway the pain is getting better every day, and I won't need the full supply of opioids.

Several times a night? You're too young to have Old Man's Disease.
Glad to hear you're doing better!

Too much coffee... and not enough sleep.

@Horace, update?
Slow progress, thanks George. It's my understanding that right about now is where the repair is most fragile - the sutures have partially dissolved and are no longer as strong, but the healing hasn't started to any significant degree so you don't have that holding things together either. So I'm trying to avoid any overconfidence and am still being extremely careful. Took off the dressing last night for my first post-surgery shower and it's pretty ugly. I'll have another 6" vertical scar on my knee, a matching pair now. But the pain isn't bad anymore, as long as I don't move. I'm looking forward to being able to sleep on my side again, since I'm a side sleeper, but the pain doesn't allow for it currently.
