Knew a doc that had a five bedroom house. Every bedroom had its own bathroom. Every bedroom had a small room between the bedroom and its bathroom. The room had a stacked washer and dryer with a small table and cabinet on one side and a closet opposite the washer and dryer.

Natural light is a dealbreaker for me. I need it, and it was the biggest reason we bought this money pit home, that and a very open floor plan and the best lot on a wooded street.

I don’t care for large, over luxurious baths. It should be nice, but it’s a functional room, not a refuge.

If the home is cursed, or placed on top of a water vein, or near a phone base station.

The house where I grew up (build around 1910) had 1 bath on the second floor - for 8 people. The whole neighborhood was like that.

We added a half bath, like most in the neighborhood, on the first floor. I forget when the 1/2 was added, somewhere between having 4 and 8 people.

Now we have 2.5 baths for 2 people.

Generally you want good feng shui, which can be interpreted to mean many things, including things like "good natural light" and "not near a cell tower" (a la @Klaus) and "a good spot for a piano" (a la @Mik).

I would never have a two-story home without a bathroom on the first floor.

What is the dealbreaker for any home you would be interested in?

If more than 1 female lives in the house, 2 bathrooms is a minimum requirement.

Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run, there's still time to change the road you're on.

Bathroom AND bedroom on the first floor.

                And yes, good feng shui.

6 bathrooms here. Every bedroom has a bathroom.

                    4 on level 1,
                    1 upstairs,
                    1 basement.

                      First house:

2 bedroom Cape Cod. 1 full bath on 2nd floor between bedrooms. We added a "sunroom" with powder room on 1st floor.

                      Second house:

5 bedrooms and finished attic. 2 full baths on 2nd floor and 1 ¾ bath there as well. Powder room on main floor. ¾ bath in attic. Also, a toilet in the basement

                      Condo:

3 bedrooms. One full bath for each (Master Main bath has tub and shower). Also powder room.

I'm quite impressed you had even two powder rooms. You must have had a quite impressive amount of cannons pointed towards your neighbours.

We’ve got a full bath off our bedroom and a full bath for the other two upstairs bedrooms. There’s a WC on the main level and a full bath in the basement (it looks like they had tried to build an in-law suite in the basement).

The upstairs bathrooms are right next to each other and are mirrors with a simple sink/vanity, commode, and combo shower and tub. I would love to pull out the combo in our shower and put in a walk-in shower with multiple streams of water. Do you think that would affect the value?

Growing up? One bathroom for a house with 3 adults and 5 kids.

My last house had 6 full bathrooms - though because of it's age (built 1893), none were particularly wonderful.

The current house had 1 bath on the second floor and a powder room in the basement. Not having a first floor bath not optimal. My spouse assures me that if there is a next house, at least one bedroom and one full bath will be on the first floor.

When I enter a house, I always look for where a 7ft or lengthier grand piano could be placed, not near windows or heating vents - and providing an expanse for the sound to bloom (boom?). Our current living room is 20x24', but I would prefer something half again as large with 10 foot ceilings - a modest room out of Versailles might work well. Many years ago, I entered a Victorian home that was for sale and contained such a living room; however, the bedrooms were all about the size of a bed making the house unsuitable.

Dealbreaker for all our houses (6!) except the very first one was no room for the piano. Lack of a decent sized garage was the other.

Separate bathrooms are a big plus in marital harmony. There are just things I know occur, but Indo not wish to see them.
