A Nashville legend has died
-
The legendary piano player Marcus "Pig" Robbins, born and raised not 20 miles from my house, died on january 30. His iconic style of playing can be heard in everything from country to folk to hard rock. The "Pig lick" is instantly recognizable. In studios all over the world, tell the piano player you want a "Pig lick" style and everyone - everyone - knows exactly what you're talking about.
I didn't know him, only met him a few times., but he was blind since an early age, and was a very unassuming, nice man. I'll add a link to remind anyone who made it this far in life without knowing already what a Pig lick sounds like...

I knew Floyd well. Played a lot of ping pong with him and Boots, upstairs at the Acuff Rose company. I didnt know Pig, but for some reason im emotional over this. Maybe it's because I viewed him as a hero.
