He's under contract until through the 2024 season. He was very emphatic at his press conference, he will not be coaching next year.
Jerry can have him, but it will cost him most of his draft for two or three years.
I think he's going to the broadcasting booth for at least a year. At least.

I think our DC is fixin' to be our head coach. But...LSU tried to hire the Saints D-line coach and Payton stepped in and cited first refusal in Nielson's contract. To keep Nielson from being pissed at the world, Payton did give him an administrative title and a raise. I think he's a guy to keep an eye on. He's young, he's fiery and he's good. I suspect if DA gets the head coach job, Nielsen will be the new Defensive Coordinator. And I think he's going to be good.
