What messages would you suggest to be projected for this experiment?

The mosque will turn to dust
The muslims will all convert

Hmmm … you wrote “a cross”, I misread that as “across.”
Anyway, how is projecting “a cross” onto a mosque comparable to projecting messages about Catholics/Catholicism onto a cathedral?

There is no such thing as "hate speech", in my opinion.
There's speech that is within the realm of free speech, and there's speech that is against the law.
Merely hating somebody or something is not against the law.

The difference?
A boiling crowd of mad people intent on your imminent death and parading your corpse through the streets.

As opposed to a group of people who want to protect human life at its most vulnerable.

“Hate speech” as a type of speech can certainly be defined into existence. Whether a particular definition of it overlaps with illegality is a separate question.

But to define "hate speech" you'd need to define "hate". Good luck with that. Any definition will eventually boil down to "the things that those in power don't want to hear".
