And Romney? Can't stand him, the greasy dweeb.
Mitt Romney did very well for Massachusetts when he was Governor there. "RomneyCare" pioneered in Massachusetts eventually became a model for "ObamaCare" later federally. It's a great achievement, too bad Romney had to disown it when he ran for President in 2012. Still, for the most part, he was a good Governor for Massachusetts.

It looks like the Grand Old Party’s party is getting less grand and maybe less old.
These prominent GOP members have said that they will not attend the Republican National Convention this year:
- Sen. Chuck Grassley
- Sen. Lamar Alexander
- Sen. Lisa Murkowski
- Sen. Susan Collins <== she says she’s just following her own historical pattern
- Sen. Mitt Romney
- Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner
More Congressional GOP members announced that they will not attend the RNC:
- Sen. Roy Blunt
- Sen. Pat Roberts
- Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart <== of Florida, state where the RNC will be held
- Rep. Francis Rooney <== of Florida, state where the RNC will be held
- Rep. Darin LaHood <== honorary Illinois state co-chairman for the Trump campaign
Florida also has executive order in place that mandates quarantines for visitors from areas with “substantial community spread.” Would be interesting to see how Florida will or will not enforce such quarantines on delegates from such areas.

Republican convention in Jacksonville will be scaled back next month

The Thursday letter from Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, obtained by The Washington Post, said admittance will be limited to only regular delegates for the first three days of the convention — or about 2,500 people. For the final day, when the president attends, delegates will get a guest, and alternate delegates can also attend — or 6,000 to 7,000 people. In the letter, McDaniel says the changes are to comply with Florida rules after the party moved most of the convention from North Carolina.
— — — —Of course, that will most likely still be bigger than the Democratic National Convention that will most likely not happen in-person at all.

Trump cancels GOP convention events in Jacksonville

"I told my team it's time to cancel the Jacksonville, Fla., component of the GOP Convention," Trump said in a coronavirus briefing at the White House, explaining that "it's just not the right time" to hold a "big, crowded convention."

Obvious decision is obvious.
Maybe he’s just slow to see the obvious.
Clearly, he is stupid and wrong and mean and evil.

Just like colleges and businesses are making real time decsisions to re-open. A bunch of corporations this week just said no office openings until at least 1/1. More to come. Watch the colleges and schools go on line too.
It’s not like the convention was anywhere near the last hold out, but hey would would anyone make the connection when they didn’t want to.

How are they going to justify tuition prices with no usable campus?
Maybe the schools can justify it, but how can the students justify paying outrageous tuition while sitting in classes in their mom's basement?
Aren't the pre-covid web based colleges much cheaper?

Of course they were the last hold out.
It’s just that your comparison is poor.
How many other in-person indoor events for 10s of thousands were still scheduled for August in a hot zone?
I guess if your view is a convention is just pure entertainment which I could see. Some think of it as an integral part of electing a new President. So my comparison is poor or apt depending on your personal view.

President Trump seems not to have a filter (or maybe feedback loop) between his brain and his mouth.
He was so mad at North Carolina for not guaranteeing the convention could be held there.
"Okay, We will have the biggest, best convention in Florida!!!"
Unfortunately, he opens himself up for this type of feedback. Most of what occurs to President Trump is his own fault.
As I have say before, the best campaigning Vice President Biden can do right now is to let President Trump campaign by himself.
