At issue is whether a candidate can, after an election, raise and repay his loan to his campaign without limit. Current campaign finance law sets no limit on how much money a candidate can loan to his own campaign, but sets a $250k limit as the maximum such loan can be repaid by campaign funds. The author argues that eliminating the limit entirely creates another conduit for corruption.

God, that's all we freaking need.
It's always seemed to me unrealistic to expect elected officials to be good with keeping public spending down when they need to spend gazillions of dollars to get elected in the first place. The system itself attracts the wrong kind of person.
