Quebec is introducing a new tax targeting the unvaccinated.

What’s the additional tax for smoking? Being fat?

No fat tax as far as I know.
Not sure if there are additional taxes for being unvaccinated against other diseases.

Just Quebec being Quebec. Very little chance it will happen and if it does it will be quashed in the ensuing court challenges.
It’s a floating balloon to deflect public attention away from other issues facing the Quebec G’ovt. Nothing to see, other than a whole lot of noise from people it does not affect in the rest of the country.

The big issue is that Chief Medical Officer of Quebec unexpectedly resigned his office last week. The premier floated this tax balloon a day or two after. Media and public attention immediately focused attention away from the resignation and on the tax.

Are you kidding? Smokers are taxed up the arse pretty much everywhere.

@renauda did he give a reason for his resignation?
Was it because the government was going to propose this tax?
From CTV news:
“Arruda’s letter of resignation, obtained by CTV News, he cited recent criticisms of his work but didn’t specify what exactly he was referring to. “The recent remarks made on the credibility of our opinions and on our scientific rigour undoubtedly cause a certain erosion in the adhesion of the population,” he wrote, meaning people’s willingness to follow public health rules. “In this context, I consider it appropriate to offer you the possibility of replacing me before the end of my term of office.”
No mention at all of proposed tax on the unvaccinated.
