and I had his nuts in a vice, we'd both be tickled.

I'm speaking of the GM engineer who designed a headlight replacement procedure that necessitated removing multiple bolts and housing to change out one stinking low beam bulb.

I wouldn't mind the bolts so much if I didn't lose so much skin scraping my hands into a tight spot.

As LED technologies make "light bulbs" much longer lasting, there is decreasing incentives to design for their easy replacements.

Spoken by somebody who most likely does not do mechanic work.😀

It's unfortunate, but if you have a modern car you are not supposed to change the headlight, especially if it's Xenon or LED.

Back when headlights were still "normal" light bulbs, I also used to do this myself, but I ran into similar issues (no space, quite elaborate procedure etc.).

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Recently upgraded my Expedition with LED headlights.

The passenger side was pretty easy. I was able to perform the change without any disassembly. 5 minutes.

The driver side was a completely different story. I had to remove the entire air cleaner assembly AND the windshield fluid reservoir, in addition to the top plastic cover across the radiator. What a bitch. 2 1/2 hours.

Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run, there's still time to change the road you're on.

I had Mazda utility pickup in the early ‘90s. Great little truck except you had to remove the whole front grill to replace any burned out headlights. A one hour job minimum and always in winter weather when travelling through the mountains en route to or from Vancouver.

I have a girlfriend who had a 78 or so Pontiac Sunbird that you had to hoist the engine halfway out to change the back spark plugs. I also had to take the carb off every week or two to screw it back onto its mounting plate.

Does MFR know about this girlfriend and why do you let your mistress drive such an old classic car? Oh, did you mean "had"? 😀😛😛😀
