My FIL talked about taking benzedrine when he was in the Army. Of course, the military using stimulants should surprise no one.

He also used it after being discharged, just to "stay awake." Mrs. George remembers those conversations.

An employee of mine said that back in the day, the doc she worked for gave her amphetamines to help her get her work done. She worked long hours and couldn't have done it without the drugs.

A biography on Jackie Kennedy had stories about the amount of drugs they used in the White House - prescribed by a physician whom they referred to as "Dr. Feel Good."

I just asked her. He continued up until the time we married, in 1977.
