Getting COVID 3 times.
-
This is a buddy of mine. Actually, to be precise, he has COVID and the flu. His 3-year-old son (had COVID once before) just has the flu for now. Mom had COVID twice already, is testing herself for both.
FFS these people need a break.

Another buddy of mine just got out of the hospital. Had COVID, pretty darn close to dying last week. 37.
Mother-in-law likely has it.
Me, my wife, and our kiddo are all sick, too, but not COVID, so, could be a hell of a lot worse.

Hope you’re feeling better soon! We just all had to swab the deck last week, was just a bad cold. I’m now over a baker’s dozen…

Oh man - we've had like a 2 week bug. We're all in the coughing phase now.

Learned last night that the SIL in Russia came down with C19. She’s double vaxxed with Sputnik and is only experiencing mild symptoms - low grade fever, runny nose and loss of smell. On pins and needles though whether she gave it to her parents who are in their late 70’s and 80’ with a whole gamit of co-morbidities. May learn more tonight in a Zoom call.

Hopefully, that'll be as far as it goes. D2's friend had similar symptoms and recovered pretty quickly. D2, OTOH, still suffers from SOB, weakness, and difficulty with taste.

Oh, man.
Please keep us posted.
This is such a SHITTY disease.

My older brother's brother-in-law/sister-in-law both just got out of the hospital with COVID and are on oxygen at home. They don't believe in the vaccine - "it's all a democrat effort to eradicate the old people to save money on Medicare." Neither have health insurance, and she won't enroll in Medicare though eligible. Still won't get the vaccine as "that's how they'll keep track of you." Mind you, they just bout a new Caddie and a new truck - just don't believe in wasting money on nonsense like health insurance or the hassle of Medicare nonsense.

Just because COVID is the star of the show, doesn't mean all the rest of the crud went away. Thanksgiving weekend produced only one positive COVID test in the entire parish, but there was a butt-load of bronchitis making the rounds.
Hang in there and hope you feel better soon.

Fucking hell.
I wake up, my wife texts me: don't come downstairs, we both have COVID.

Our daughter is 3. So, unvaxxed. Coughing fits, 102 fever.
My wife just kinds sounds like she has strep.
I get my test in an hour but is there any point to taking our daughter to the hospital?
-
Is there a public health line you can phone regarding your daughter? Personally, I would try to avoid a trip to the hospital emergency unless possible strep is the cause. Even then, your family doctor may be a better option than an emergency room. If not strep, not much the ER can do about a virus even if they do see her.
-
Both your daughter and wife tested positive? Or your wife and you? OTC test or have you guys been to a clinic? I’d call your PCP and get their advice first and foremost, but a 102 degree fever isn’t as serious for a toddler as it is for an adult, but I wouldn’t want to see it over 103.
I tend not to trust the OTC tests and would get to a drive thru test site.

My thoughts as well, Renauda.
@LuFins-Dad OTC test, all of us took two tests. Results:
Me-neg-neg
Wife-pos-pos
Kiddo-pos-posHard to argue with those results.

I suspect you'll be positive by tomorrow. If not, consider it a minor miracle.
Call your PCP. Go from there.

Yup. You probably won't be advised to go to a hospital/whatever. THey'll just advise you to ride it out and contact again if things get worse.
I assume your wife is vaccinated?
-
Here’s the rough part, is your wife feeling up to taking care of the little one?

Yeah, Moderna.

@LuFins-Dad That's all a little complicated, but I don't understand why it needs to be.
- kiddo has been sick like this for days, now. We thought it was RSV, the way she was acting.
- wife just started feeling like ass as of yesterday. So right now she's more or less okay, just headache, achey generally.
We're quarantining, but my thing is, freaking why? Why put both of them through the terrible bullshit of taking care of themselves in the stupidly off chance I can keep from getting it? I'm already sick anyway, I got my flu shot two days ago. Cost-benefit, I'm just not seeing it with quarantining. She wants me to stay away so for now I am, but I don't get it.
