Better.com (mortgage company) CEO fires 900 employees over Zoom

What's the alternative in remote work. An email?
You can do auditorium style presentations in Zoom where the audience can't see each other or talk to each other - they just hear the presenter.
It's a novel way to do this sort of communication - I don't necessarily see anything inherently wrong in it.

Someone should be in the same room with you and look you in the eye when they fire you.
Remote zoom is pretty gutless.
Who cares? The fired people are gone.
The remaining people care, and they just found out that their ceo is a gutless jerk.
Well - that's the crux of it.
Some companies are 100% remote and have been since the pandemic. How do you fire people in a mandatory remote work world.

"Last time I did [this] I cried," Mr Garg told the staff on the call.
Yeah, I bet that got their sympathy.
What a clueless twat.

Even though I'm reading, rather than hearing this, somehow,
D'OhPhibes saying this is just so much better than anyone else on this forum.
