Of course immigration is not his thing. It’s unreasonable for him to have an opinion on it. Public health is his thing however, and he should have a thought as to whether illegal immigration poses a health hazard to the population he is supposed to protect.

      1. He works for the administration. Who here is surprised by this? This is like staring incredulously at the Nazi who jaywalks on his way to the concentration camp across the street.
      2. If it were me, and I was going to be asked on national television to speak about the health dangers of illegal immigration in today's political climate, I'd give it about 18 minutes after my comment aired for me to receive the first death threat text.

        Ah...we don't have the capability.

How many people fly into the US from overseas every day?

How many people walk across the border every day?

I'd think a simple reallocation of resources would solve this issue.

            DOD is screening airports?

Take the DoD's resources and use them to do screening at ports of entry. I think that's what @Aqua-Letifer was getting at.

@aqua-letifer I don't disagree with your comment, or Ax's interoperation of it.

Fine, have the National Guard at the border. I'm all for it.

Have them do screenings for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. I'm all for it.

But you know, as well as anyone, that's not going to happen, because that's anti-immigrant.

ETA: And there's probably some law about having "The Army" stationed at the border.

Illegal immigration is a problem, sure. Tamp down the border. But (1) The legal process to get in here is completely broken. I mean it's comical how bad it is. Which makes me care a lot less about border-crossers. (2) Compared to Oz, we're getting off VERY light in this department. Our border patrol people aren't forced into myriad life-and-death decisions on the regular. (3) What does it matter, though? Look what Australia and En Zed tried in terms of a quarantine. Didn't make a bit of difference. So, placing blame at the feet of illegals for community spread is ridiculous.

Placing some blame at the feet of over a million (per year) unvaccinated people is obviously a legitimate thing to do.

The fact that they are illegal immigrants is beside the point.

The fact that they are over a million unvaccinated people is the point. Giving them a free pass because of their illegal status is ridiculous.
